Bookstore at Christ Church
This ministry is responsible for our bookstore. We are involved in assisting with the distribution of training materials for the Connect Groups and Classes that are active at Christ Church, the point of sale for Christ Church material and tickets for events held at our church. If you are passionate about books and helping others discover the wealth of information and inspiration contained between their covers.
Cafe at Christ Church
This team serves Jesus by welcoming and serving people in the Cafe before and after church services and during special functions. They arrive in time to make coffee, serve the coffee, and other beverages and food, then straighten and restock. It is a team ministry, usually done in teams of 2 or 3. The time commitment is about 4 hours a month.
Stewards assist the pastors in serving communion to the congregation during all Sunday worship services. Stewards are asked monthly to designate which service they are able to serve, resulting in approximately 6 to 10 services per year. Minimal training.
Faith Community Nursing
We are a service group made up of medical professionals that offer the church medical services like monthly Blood Pressure Clinics, Emergency Medical coverage for services and special events, Food Pantry weekly Blood Pressure Clinics, and promotion and implementation of health initiatives and programs. Our mission is to promote health and wellness at Christ Church and to connect people to the love and care of Jesus Christ. This team meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:15 in Conference Room A for devotion, planning, and prayer.
Our Greeters are here to connect people to Jesus Christ with welcoming hospitality as people walk in the doors of Christ Church. Greeter Ministries are available to welcome people, hand out bulletins and other pertinent information at the doors of the sanctuary and are available to answer questions as needed. Time commitment is minimal: 30 minutes prior to the start of church service for prayer and a few minutes after the start of each service, as often as each week, twice a month or once a month, depending on your schedule and availability.
Ministry for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
This team is for people who fluent in American Sign Language would like to share this skill serving God. We are seeking volunteers to sign during worship services and special events.
This crew prepares the chapel and the sanctuary for worship. Volunteers serve one or two days during the week on a rotating schedule. Members sharpen pencils, stock pews, with offering envelopes, and remove old bulletins and other trash from the pews. Time commitment is 1-2 hours every four to five weeks on a rotating basis.
Volunteers pick up furnished bakery pies (with directions and maps) at the church and deliver them to our guests as a follow-up to their visit to the church. Time requirement will vary based on the number of Sunday visitors, but usually once or twice a month for approximately an hour. Come and help with a beloved Christ Church tradition.
Team of prayer warriors that covers each Christ Church campus with prayer on Sundays. This team begins the worship week for Christ Church by starting an hour before the first morning service in the sanctuary of each campus. The faithful men and women of this team pray through every room in the building, and then pray for the worship team, pastors, and leadership teams.
Safety and Security Team
This team keeps everyone at Christ Church safe and secure. The team provides a well-trained, “low-key” security presence at every major worship service and special event. There are four groups that work together to form the Safety and Security Ministry: watchers, shepherds, guardians and control center operators. Each position has different qualifications and roles within the ministry, and each plays a key part in keeping Christ Church safe for our church family. They also provide specialized training for other ministries. Volunteers work all worship services on Sundays, and special events as needed.
Shepherd Care is a service group that visits those in the nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or their own homes who are members of our congregation that are not able to attend church regularly. We represent Christ and Christ Church to these people for on-going connection to the church. The requirement is to see your person(s) once a month and develop a relationship with that person. We are also able to offer communion by the authority of our Pastors. Quarterly meetings for support and training are offered through the Associate Pastor.
Help Christ Church open up parking spots for new visitors. You can drive the shuttle on Sunday mornings to help people get from the shuttle lot to church. Shifts are 2.5 hours each beginning at 7:45am. Volunteers typically drive once a month. Training provided.
Special Events Team
This team helps people connect. Guests get information on upcoming events and find out more about ministry opportunities. Volunteers are needed to staff the center before and after each worship service.
Our Ushers are available each Sunday to connect people to Jesus Christ through seating people, helping with the needs of those attending, counting attendance for each service, collecting the offering for each service and serving to make for an orderly procession for Communion Sunday. Ushers are also available to answer questions and show hospitality to all that enter the doors of Christ Church. Time commitment: 30 minutes prior to the start of church service for prayer and availability during the church service for attendance, taking offering and, when scheduled, serving for our communion needs. Frequency of commitment may be as little as once a month or more often, as you choose and depending on your schedule and availability.
The Visitation Team is a service group that visits Christ Church members and attenders who are hospitalized or in rehabilitation. We are also responsible for the emergency cell phone for people to connect with us after hours and on holidays. The Associate Pastor leads meetings for on-going training once a quarter. The visits require being able to pray out loud with people, good listening skills, and your ability to represent Christ and Christ Church to our people and community.
Wedding Coordinating Team
The team assists our wedding couples here at Christ Church with all the many details of getting married. Coordinators work the Friday evening rehearsal and the wedding in teams of three or more. Duties make sure the church is set and ready, assisting others serving in the wedding and ensuring the wedding party and family members have everything they need. New coordinators are trained by shadowing at a minimum of two weddings. Coordinators are scheduled as needed and asked to assist with a minimum of two weddings a year.
Our Welcome Center is our hub for first time visitors, new members and any questions that need to be answered for anyone that enter our doors. We exist not only to connect people with Jesus Christ but also to make people coming in from the community feel welcome as they seek a church home. At times, we give Welcome Tours, showing our facility to new folks, answering questions about our ministries and working in connection with the Sync Center. Time commitment: 30 minutes prior to service for prayer, 10 minutes after service begins and approximately 15 minutes after service to be available to answer questions.
