Serving Christ Ministries
A ministry to college students to encourage both in-state and out-of-state through cards, care packages and prayer. If you have a student away at college or if you have a heart for these college students, this ministry is for you. We meet monthly during the school year, to write personal cards of encouragement to our college students. Our goal is to keep them connected to their home church, and let them know someone loves them and is lifting them up in prayer.
Meet monthly at five different locations. We provide activities and parties for homeless and under-resourced children and mothers. Birthday parties are for those children who may otherwise never have a birthday celebration.
Early Response Team
The Early Response Team (ERT) program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, ERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. ERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community.
The ERT course is taught in the community by a trained team of first responders who have completed a ERT Trainer course conducted by UMCOR for emergency management. ERT training includes disaster preparedness, disaster fire suppression, basic disaster medical operations and light search and rescue operations.
Faith Community Nursing
We are a service group made up of medical professionals that offer the church medical services like monthly Blood Pressure Clinics, Emergency Medical coverage for services and special events, Food Pantry weekly Blood Pressure Clinics, and promotion and implementation of health initiatives and programs. Our mission is to promote health and wellness at Christ Church and to connect people to the love and care of Jesus Christ. This team meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:15 in Conference Room A for devotion, planning, and prayer.
Nursing Home Minstry
Volunteers are needed to visit residents in local nursing homes. The team visits those who have few family members or friends in the area on a regular basis so a relationship can be formed. No special talent is required. We will help you select a nursing home and identify a resident for you to visit. The ministry requires self-motivation and a commitment to faithful visitation.
Team of prayer warriors that covers each Christ Church campus with prayer on Sundays. This team begins the worship week for Christ Church by starting an hour before the first morning service in the sanctuary of each campus. The faithful men and women of this team pray through every room in the building, and then pray for the worship team, pastors, and leadership teams.
This team shares God’s word with prisoners. We equip people to re-enter life with new values in relation to faith in Jesus Christ. Each year, we host an “Angel Tree” that provides a Christmas Outreach for children whose parents are incarcerated. We meet on the 3rd Monday at 7 p.m. in the Coffee Cafe.
Shepherd Care is a service group that visits those in the nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or their own homes who are members of our congregation that are not able to attend church regularly. We represent Christ and Christ Church to these people for on-going connection to the church. The requirement is to see your person(s) once a month and develop a relationship with that person. We are also able to offer communion by the authority of our Pastors. Quarterly meetings for support and training are offered through the Associate Pastor.
This ministry works to bring physical sight to impoverished people in third world countries. We provide vision care, eyeglasses, and eye drops. We travel with organizations within Christ Church: Feed My Sheep (Honduras) and the Philippines Mission Team. At home, the work also involves sorting and repairing eye wear that is donated. Anyone with interest is helpful and individuals with optical experience are especially beneficial.
The Visitation Team is a service group that visits Christ Church members and attenders who are hospitalized or in rehabilitation. We are also responsible for the emergency cell phone for people to connect with us after hours and on holidays. The Associate Pastor leads meetings for on-going training once a quarter. The visits require being able to pray out loud with people, good listening skills, and your ability to represent Christ and Christ Church to our people and community.
Welcome Home Ministry
This ministry serves Christ around the corner, by providing furniture and household items to people in need. We make a house into a home. Spend 2-3 hours on a Saturday and make a big impact on a family’s current situation and future. We need volunteers to help us deliver furniture and household items to families (not all volunteers need muscles), arrange furniture, make beds, and decorate.
