Project Christmas Cheer

For many years Christ Church has been buying gifts for needy residents in our local and regional area nursing homes and we will continue our gift giving again this year. We ask church members to take an envelope, buy and wrap a gift, attach the name of the resident to the outside of the gift and return it to Christ Church FVH. We will then distribute the gifts to the appropriate nursing homes in time for their Christmas parties.

Envelopes will be available at the SYNC center FVH at all services on Dec 3 and Dec 10, 2023 until all envelopes have been taken. All gifts must be returned to Christ Church FVH no later than Dec 17, 2023.

Thank you for your participation in this loving community service ministry.

Faith & Friendship

Faith & Friendship – Wednesdays

Starting Wednesday, October 25, Faith & Friendship will be starting a study called Ruth by Kelly Minter.

It examines Ruth’s journey of unbearable loss, redeeming love, and divine legacy. See how God proves Himself faithful as the One who rescues, revives, and restores.  Books are available in the Christ Church bookstore.  It is not necessary to have a book but encouraged.

Faith & Friendship is a women’s ministry that seeks to connect women to Jesus Christ. This will be done through developing friendships, providing support, prayer and biblical teaching.

Please join us from 10:00am – 11:30am in the Student Lounge at the Fairview Heights Campus.

New members are welcome at any time.  For more information contact Jill Schlueter at jschlueter1@charter.net

Faith & Friendship – Tuesday Nights

Starting October 17, the Faith & Friendship Tuesday night group will begin a new study called Tired of Trying – How to Hold on to God When You’re Frustrated, Fed-Up and Feeling Forgotten by Ashley Morgan Jackson

Have you tried it all? Although you say the right words, pray the right prayers and read the right Bible verses, you still feel like nothing seems to be working. Are you tired of trying? What else can you do when your faith doesn’t seem to be “working” anymore?

Ashley, who works with Proverbs 31 ministries, is no stranger to this kind of spiritual exhaustion. Much like the biblical character Jacob, who wrestled God, Ashley wrestled with God when she had done all she knew to do to trust Him, despite the pain. She found that sometimes God requires us to hold onto Him so we can let go of everything holding us back.
Choosing to wrestle isn’t easy or quick —but it does have purpose. When we reach the place where the only choice is to run to God or from Him, we can hold tight…because transformation and blessing will come.

Please join us from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the Coffee Café. Books are available in the Christ Church Bookstore or through their site online at https://mychristchurch.shopsettings.com/

New members are welcome at any time. For more information contact Jill Schlueter at jschlueter1@charter.net

Faith & Friendship – Thursday Nights

Starting October 26, the Faith & Friendship Thursday night group will begin a new study called One in a Million:  Journey to Your Promised Land by Priscilla Shirer.

Modern-day Christians often hear and understand the promises of God each Sunday morning at church but then rarely choose to experience them in everyday life. In One in a Million, Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer invites us to change that pattern for good, living beyond our circumstances and expecting to see God move in miraculous ways day after day. Without a doubt, we can find and follow God’s purpose for our journey. We can make it to the Promised Land!

Please join us from 6pm – 8pm in the Coffee Café at the Fairview Heights Campus.  New members are welcome at any time.  For more information contact Jill Schlueter @ jschlueter1@charter.net.
